Courses in Fall 2023 and Winter 2024
Classes start in October, Session will be held either Friday afternoon or Sunday afternoon (please inquire)
 
Sight reading and music theory for pianists and violinist 
Level 1 (age 8 – 9 years old) 
Developing sight reading, based on a fundamental understanding of scales and tonality construction; understanding of the connection between beat and rhythm; seeing the connection between intervals and chords.  Students learn how to use Finale software. 
 
Sight reading and music theory for pianists and violinists 
Level 2 (age 10 – 12 years old)
Students will gain a fundamental understanding of relative and parallel keys, the connection between beat (compound, asymmetric meter) and rhythm (tuplets), modulation in tonal music. The students learn how to use Finale software.
 
Composition and improvisation for pianists 
Level 1 (age 10 – 12 years old)
This course is designed for pianists with at least 2 years of experience playing piano.Based on music theory, the course offers a set of exercises (1) for writing compositions,(2) for developing the skills to play in classical and pop styles (3) for learning to improvise. The students learn how to use Finale and GarageBand software.
 
Composition and improvisation for pianists 
Level 2 (age 12 – 14 year old)
 The course is designed for pianists with at least 3 years of experience playing piano.Students will continue to strengthen their skills and build confidence as both a pianists composers. In addition, they become more comfortable with harmonic language, including chord progressions with the seventh chords. Students learn how to use Finale and GarageBand software.
